William Dalrymple

William Dalrymple was born in Scotland in 1965, and brought up on the shores of the Firth of Forth. He was educated at Ampleforth and Trinity College, Cambridge where he was first History Exhibitioner then Senior History Scholar. His books include Nine Lives: In Search of the Sacred in Modern India, The Last Mughal, White Mughals; Return of a King: The Battle of Afghanistan (which was been shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson, Duff Cooper and PEN Hessel-Tiltman prizes), Koh-i-Noor: The History of the World's Most Infamous Diamond and The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company. He lives in a farm outside Delhi.
