Kathryn Hansen

Kathryn Hansen is a leading scholar of Indian languages and historian of traditional theatre and performance. Her first book, Grounds for Play: The Nautanki Theatre of North India, won the A. K. Coomaraswamy Book Prize. Stages of Life: Indian Theatre Autobiographies presents four life stories from the Parsi theatre. She is professor emeritus of Asian studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where she served as director of the Center for Asian Studies.
