Abul Bashar

Abul Bashar was born in 1951 in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, and has written nearly 40 books in which he explores the socioreligious complexities of Bengali Muslim communities. One of the most critically acclaimed voices of contemporary Bengali literature, Bashar has received several honours including the prestigious Ananda Purashkar (1988), Sahitya-Shiromoni Purashkar (1993) and Bankim Smriti Purashkar (2008).
