Molissa Fenley

Molissa Fenly grew up in Ibadan, Nigeria, and, after coming to the United States, founded her dance company Molissa Fenley and Company in 1977. She has since created over 80 dance works—both group dances and solos made in collaboration with visual artists and contemporary composers. Fenley is a Guggenheim Fellow, a Fellow of the American Academy of Rome, a Fellow of the Bogliasco Foundation, a recipient of two Asian Cultural Council residencies in Japan and a Master Artist of the Atlantic Center for the Arts. She is Danforth Professor of Dance at Mills College, Oakland, California.
