Paolo Volponi

Paolo Volponi (1924–1994) was one of Italy’s leading novelists and poets during the second half of the twentieth century. His writings were profoundly influenced by the impact of social, political, and industrial change on ordinary life, and explore their effects on human relations. He is the first author to have twice won Italy’s most prestigious literary award, the Strega Prize, including one for The World Machine. The Javelin Thrower, translated by Richard Dixon, was published by Seagull Books in 2019.
